Health at Home
Digital tools and devices have a large potential to impact health and create new pediatric healthcare delivery models that better meet the daily needs of patients and families, while reducing the necessity for traditional costly facility-based healthcare. However, to ensure their effective development and equitable implementation, digital healthcare solutions must be designed and tested in real-world homes of diverse patient families receiving care in existing health systems. Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute’s Health@Home Initiative was launched in 2023 to catalyze this crucial science and innovation required to equitably transform how digital healthcare is developed and delivered outside of hospital and clinic walls.
Our Mission
To advance child health and family well-being through equitably transforming how healthcare is delivered outside hospital and clinic walls, in the home and community.
Our Vision
To be the premier pediatric research institute for development, evaluation, and implementation of digital healthcare tools, devices, and models that advance child health in the home and community.

Digital Research Toolkit
Developed by Health at Home in collaboration with the Quant Sci team, the Digital Research Toolkit is a guide for the Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute community when navigating the secure digital tools available for research at Lurie Children’s. Whether you need secure data collection, virtual communication and collaboration, patient engagement, or more, this toolkit provides an overview of the key technologies at your disposal.
From Problem to Prototype: Co-Creating Better Medical Devices for Kids
Northwestern engineering students partnered with Lurie Children’s to design solutions inspired by real challenges families face at home. Together with a family caring for their daughter with spinal muscular atrophy, they created a safer, more reliable backup suction device. This collaboration celebrates the creativity, compassion, and teamwork that help children and families live safer, fuller lives.
