About Us

PACCRI exists to break down barriers and unite experts across medicine, science, engineering, and ethics to drive bold research and innovation. By leveraging the strengths of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute, and Northwestern University, we are creating a collaborative hub that accelerates discovery, fosters team science, and delivers solutions that matter for children and families in their most vulnerable moments. Our vision is clear: to lead nationally in advancing pediatric acute and critical care research, ensuring that children and families everywhere benefit from the most innovative, compassionate, and effective care possible.

Our Research

PACCRI has two guiding principles:

  • To increase innovation by fostering multidisciplinary collaborations
  • To get projects done by lowering the activation energy of project execution and supporting promising ideas

As PACCRI grows, we will focus on two research pillars relevant to acute and critical care medicine—prediction and precision. The overall goal of research in the prediction pillar is early recognition and earlier treatments leading to improved outcomes, while the goal of the precision pillar is to ensure that the right patient gets the right treatment at the right time resulting in targeted, efficient treatment.
