Research Professionals Fundamentals Course Part I

Developed by the Office of Research Development in partnership with institutional research offices, the course is intended for both new research professionals beginning their careers and experienced staff seeking a refresher on research fundamentals and institutional processes. Sessions will focus on practical, role‑relevant topics such as research ethics, IRB operations, informed consent, compliance, data integrity, and interactions with investigators, sponsors, and participants.

Interactive Mock Study Section

This interactive mock study section is designed to provide early‑career investigators with a practical, behind‑the‑scenes look at how grant applications are evaluated through peer review. As part of Research Discovery Week, the session offers participants the opportunity to observe and engage with the review process in a format that mirrors a real study section, helping demystify how applications are discussed, scored, and prioritized.

Presenting Your Science Hybrid Event

Monica Laronda, PhD, and Diane Saunders, PhD

This workshop will highlight best practices for presenting research and is open to Manne Research Institute scientists and trainees at all career stages. Participants will gain actionable strategies for developing clear, compelling presentations, including guidance on content organization, effective slide design, and communicating complex ideas and data to diverse audiences. Speakers will also share practical lessons learned from presenting in a range of settings and contexts. The session will conclude with an interactive Q&A, offering opportunities to explore additional topics and brainstorm solutions to participants’ specific presentation challenges.
