Translational Services Research Lab
The mission of the Translational Services Research Lab in Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is to utilize clinically-informed processes to benefit research that positively impacts children’s health and wellbeing, and to adapt basic science discoveries into clinically-viable techniques.

Services
All Translational Services Research Lab staff have up-to-date safe shipping of biological materials and dry ice training (formerly known as IATA training).
All Translational Services Research Lab staff have building access that allows for the safest possible route of transference through the research institute.
The Translational Services Research Lab works closely with Manne Research Institute’s Office of Research Integrity and Compliance for research security and export control of biological samples.
The Translational Services Research Lab coordinates permits from the relevant government agencies for the import and export of biological samples.

The Translational Services Research Lab performs requested assays on provided samples and also prepares samples for specific assay needs.
The Translational Services Research Lab staff provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for common assays.

Sample Submission Considerations
- Only samples previously discussed with an active letter of support from the Translational Services Research Lab are accepted.
- Sample drop-off procedure: Translational Services Research Lab staff must have at least 24 hours of prior notice.
- Ensure all submitted samples are de-identified and do not include patient names, medical records, or other protected health information. Use unique study specific identifiers that are not directly linked to PHI.
